Hi, I’m Sebastián Villamizar.

I’m a Senior Product Manager at Planitar. Inc., where I lead product for proptech serving Real Estate Customers in North America and Australia.

How I got here:

I started as an engineer because I wanted to build things. I moved into product management because I realized the hardest part isn’t writing code or making gadgets—it’s figuring out what to build and why.

That engineering background means I can read architecture diagrams, understand technical debt tradeoffs, and tell when someone’s proposing a hack that’ll cause problems in six months. It also means I don’t accept “it’s not possible” without asking follow-up questions.

How I work:

I spend most of my time on three things:

  • Discovery: Talking to users, looking at data, and pressure-testing assumptions before we commit to building anything
  • Clarity: Making sure everyone—engineers, designers, stakeholders—understands what we’re building and why
  • Unblocking: Finding the dependency, the missing decision, or the political roadblock that’s slowing us down, and dealing with it

I don’t believe in building features for features’ sake. Every product decision should tie back to a user problem or a business goal. If it doesn’t, we shouldn’t build it.

What I’ve shipped:

Before Planitar, I worked at Bethink Labs and Weavik where I launched:

  • An FDA-approved telemedicine platform used by 1,000+ patients
  • A real estate management app connecting landlords and tenants across 100+ properties
  • A medical procurement system that cut hospital equipment buying time by 80%

You can see more detail on my portfolio page.

Outside of work:

I write music, take photos, and occasionally try to build video games. These aren’t just hobbies—they’ve taught me how to give and receive creative feedback, how to iterate on ideas, and how to finish projects even when they’re hard. All of which turns out to be useful in product management.
